What is not here yet

Stated here rather than discovered three screens in.

  • No listening. This project ships no audio, because none has been obtained under a licence that permits it — and machine speech is not offered as listening practice.
  • No writing or speaking practice. Both need a human to mark them, and pretending otherwise would waste the evening you spent on it.
  • Practice stops at B2. The verb reference covers C1 and C2; the exercises do not. 187 of 261 grammar and vocabulary points are listed with nothing to practise yet — and each one says so before you click it.
  • No content here has been reviewed by a teacher yet. Everything generated is born marked unreviewed and has to earn the marker’s removal, one item at a time.

Try it before you start

This is a real card and a real text from the portal. Turn the card, grade it, read the dialogue. Nothing is saved from here.

A day in French

Short original texts set in ordinary French life, from the Saturday market to a first day at work. Tap any word to see what it means in its sentence.

One piece of French, many shapes

Something you read becomes a word, then a card, then a review that returns at the right moment. Step through it, or press play.

Hier, j’ai été très fatigué.

Learning for my goal

Say what you are learning French for. The list below changes to the real material that fits it today. Change your mind whenever you like; nothing is stored.

I am learning French for

Markets, cafés, neighbours and home: the French you meet every day.

Start with these

A guided path is not built yet. This is a short list of real material, not a plan.

What you can rely on

Free and open
Free and open source. No adverts, no analytics, nothing that follows you.
Sources named
Every outside source and its licence is listed. What was written here is CC BY-SA 4.0. Sources and licences
Unchecked says unchecked
Anything a teacher has not read carries a marker saying so, where you meet it.
Independent
Not connected to any exam body. No past paper is reproduced here.

The examinations, honestly

Structures for DALF, DELF, TCF, & TEF Canada are recorded first-hand from official candidate papers, each with its source and the date it was read.

TEF is listed and marked NOT VERIFIED: nobody here has read its official grid, so no figures for it are published.

Practice papers today: DELF A1, A2; TCF B1, B2. Nothing is offered for the other levels rather than something thin.

Questions

Do I need an account?
No. There is nothing to sign up for, and nothing is sent anywhere.
Where is my progress kept?
On your device, in your browser. If you clear browser data, or study in a private window, it is gone and cannot be recovered. Export a copy from Settings before you change device.
Is this official exam material?
No. The practice papers were written for this project and are timed like the real ones. They are not past papers.
Is there audio?
Not yet. A device’s own speech voice is not offered as listening practice, and a recording needs a licence that permits it.
Has a teacher checked the content?
Not yet. Each item carries a marker until one has, and you will see it where you answer.
